KUCHING - The Sarawak Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Expo 2003 will be held at the Dewan Suarah here from Jan 17-19 to showcase the latest in ebusiness and multimedia applications.

Themed "ICT - Catalyst for Development", it will highlight software developers and service providers involved in the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) flagship applicafions, including smart schools, tele-health, electronic government and smart card.

The ICT Unit of the Chief Minister's Department said in a statement today that other exhibitors from within and outside the state were also expected to participate.

Organised by the ICT Unit in collaboration with the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDC), the exposition provides an avenue for the state government to expose industry players to the latest technology in ICT applications.

About 300 people were also expected to attend a national-level ICT conference here on Jan 16 in conjunction with the exposition, it said.  Targeted at entrepreneurs, academics, politicians and students, the conference will see the presentation of papers by renowned ICT experts.

"The conference hopes to provide a forum to share information, exchange ideas and knowledge on the current and future development on ICT, including its potential in Sarawak," the statement said.  Many exciting activities have been drawn up for visitors, who also stand to win prizes.
